Whippoorwill Arts Festival celebrates the musical accomplishments, extraordinary talent, community spirit, and creative soul of artists. Join us for the first-ever virtual Whippoorwill Arts Festival. A combination of virtual workshops, live music streams, real-time Q&A sessions, and more, this year’s Whippoorwill Arts Festival features 2020 Whippoorwill Arts Artist Award winners Brittany Hass, Annie Staninec, Snap Jacks, and Kamara Thomas, as well as Master Artist Award winner, the legendary Ramblin’ Jack Elliott. All levels welcome. This song will discuss concepts for writing/composing songs, different types of collaboration, song evolution and more! Participants welcome to bring an original song.
How to Create Inclusive Spaces in Traditional Music
In this 50-minute session, a panel of four experts will speak about their experiences building inclusive spaces, in-person and online, throughout the American roots music industry and community. As leaders of the Bluegrass Pride movement and within their own industry specialties, the panel will be speaking both about creating diverse spaces from the ground up, and about creating change within existing spaces in order to become more welcoming and inclusive. The session will be split into 35 minutes of panel discussion and 15 minutes of questions: questions may be submitted by the audience during the workshop or ahead of time at hello@bluegrasspride.net.
